What is Callbreak and why is it so popular in Bangladesh?
Callbreak is a four-player trick-taking card game that has been hugely popular across South Asia — particularly in Bangladesh and Nepal — for decades. Playing Callbreak at fairs with friends and family, at tea stalls, or in the backyard is an inseparable part of Bangladeshi culture.
The game is played with a standard 52-card deck and Spades are always trump. Each round, players bid on how many tricks they expect to win. Fulfilling that bid earns points; failing to meet it deducts points. Simple rules, deep strategy — that combination is what makes Callbreak so appealing.
7u7b has brought this traditional game online, where you can play against real opponents anytime, from anywhere.
The Core Rules of Callbreak — From Start to Finish
Understanding every phase of the game will make your strategy stronger.
Deal and Bid
Each player receives 13 cards. After viewing their cards, each player places a bid — how many tricks they expect to win. The minimum bid is 1; there is no maximum.
Core RuleSpades Are Always Trump
Spades always beat any other suit. However, you cannot lead with a Spade on the first trick unless Spades are all you have in your hand.
Trump RulePoint Calculation
Points are added if you meet your bid; if you fail, your bid number is deducted. Extra points are awarded for tricks taken beyond your bid.
ScoringRound Structure
A complete game typically consists of 4 rounds. The dealer rotates each round. The player with the highest points wins.
Game StructureFollowing Suit
If you have a card in the suit that was led, you must play it. If you do not, you may play any card — trumping with a Spade is the smart move.
Suit RuleDetermining the Winner
After 4 rounds, the player with the most points wins. In case of a tie, an extra round is played. At 7u7b, there is a chance to win real money prizes.

Strategies to Win — Advice from Experienced Players
In Callbreak, good cards alone are not enough — smart bidding and playing trump at the right moment make all the difference. Experienced players in Dhaka always say that being conservative when bidding is the wise move — stay safe with a lower bid rather than lose points by overbidding.
- Analyze your hand: After the deal, count how many Spades and high cards you have. Then set your bid accordingly.
- Watch your opponents' bids: If others bid high, adopt a strategy to break their bids.
- Save your trump cards: Rather than using Spades early, hold them back for critical moments.
- Avoid overtricks: Taking more tricks than you bid can cause trouble in later rounds.
- Use low cards wisely: Force opponents to take tricks with low cards — break their bids.
